Send Illegal Criminals to Mexican Prisons

California Governor Schwarzenegger mentioned recently that the state can save oodles of cash by not hosting Illegal Immigrant prisoners (mainly Mexican) here but rather sending them to Mexico.
I think this is a great idea, provided the savings can be proven! Ship these illegals to Mexicans prisons. On the other hand, should they not be sent back to Mexico in the first place?

Danish Uprising

The Danish have had enough of the insanity! Despite having somewhat strict immigration rules already, serious problems endure with Islamic extremists and likely more problems than this New York Times article cares to mention ...

"COPENHAGEN — As part of the prolonged national headache caused by a Danish newspaper’s decision to publish 12 caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in 2005, last weekend’s attack on one of the cartoonists responsible had a certain awful inevitability about it.

Once again, the motivation was fury, still fresh after all this time, over the dissemination of the cartoons. And once again, the circumstances — in this case, the news that the person accused of the attack was a Muslim immigrant suspected of having links to terrorists — has led Danes into an uneasy examination of their relationship to their Muslim population.

In a country that already has one of the strictest immigration policies in Western Europe, the attack has also spurred politicians from across the political spectrum to demand ever more stringent rules about who should be allowed to live here."

Emperor Bloomberg Wants More Liberal Immigration Laws

NYC Mayor Bloomberg wants to let more immigrants into NYC and America. He also favors a "path to citizenship", i.e. a get out of jail free card.

"On the hot-button issue of immigration, he favors more liberal laws on allowing immigrants into the country and legalizing those who lack documentation. That will draw opposition from advocates of tightening the border and deportation of illegal aliens."

This is a man who changes party affiliation more than he changes his clothes. And he also changed a local law or two that enabled another run for Mayor, one that would not be allowed had he stayed a Republican or Democrat. Yeah, I trust his judgement here.

"Bloomberg, a longtime Democrat, switched to the Republican Party before his first mayoral campaign in 2001 and was re-elected as a Republican in 2005. He dropped party affiliation for his third campaign.

The mayor was able to run for a third term after engineering changes in election law to extend term limits from two terms to three. He has vowed not to seek a fourth term."

New Arizona Law Makes Illegals Afraid to ask for Public Assistance

A new law in Arizona will require government public assistance workers to report illegals. It goes into effect for the new year. Apparently, it will be a misdemeanor for the workers NOT to report illegals who apply for benefits (welfare). I am sure that will not be enforced but it seems the law is making some illegals fearful of asking for services.

"Randy Capps, who worked on the Urban Institute study and is now at the Migration Policy Institute, said illegal immigrants shy away from government aid. "When you're in an anti-immigrant, hostile environment, like in Arizona, the message is clear that you put yourself at risk with any contact with the government," Capps said.

In 2004, Pearce, a Republican, helped write a ballot initiative that required state workers to report illegal immigrants who receive benefits. But Arizona Atty. Gen. Terry Goddard, a Democrat, interpreted the measure narrowly so the law applied to only a couple of obscure programs.

This year, as the state struggled to address its budget deficit, Pearce inserted language in the budget bill reiterating those requirements. Many immigrant advocates and local officials were unaware of the move until the law took effect. Its impact was swift.

Jennifer Allen, executive director of the Border Action Network here, said the group has been swamped with calls from terrified parents, like Cristina, fearful of seeking benefits for their U.S. citizen children.

"It's sent a shock wave of fear through immigrant communities," Allen said."

Rep. Gutierrez Proposes Amnesty, Floodgates to Open

By far, the biggest Illegal Immigration related story in recent memory was this week's House of Representatives drive to "reform" Illegal Immigration. Make no mistake about it, this is not reform, but rather a highly permissive proposal that would grant legal status to those who broke the law. It really is that simple, and we cannot let anyone tell us otherwise.

Let's give credit to Representative Gutierrez: he is at least very honest in what he is asking for: a path to citizenship. At least with this Illegal Immigrant apologist, there is no beating around the bush, and we can debate whether or not to grant this path or not. Recall that with the last round of 'reform' proposals, championed by people like President Bush and Senators Kennedy and McCain, we could not even get past the point of whether to call the reform proposals a "path to citizenship" or not. Also recall that McCain, when running for President, repeatedly denied that a "path to citizenship" was not an accurate description of the proposals from 2 or 3 years ago. Therefore the details often got lost in the murky waters of "depends on what the definition of 'is' is" (courtesy, President Clinton).

But I digress. Let me start with what I find to be the most frightening aspect of Gutierrez's proposals to reward the millions of law breakers: there are 87 members of the House who support this reward. This is truly frightening and it is my great hope that now a few of these law breaking apologists lose their seats in the next round of elections.

"Gutierrez, one of 87 House Democrats sponsoring the legislation, said the 700-page bill is based on months of discussions with community organizations, unions and other groups around the country in hopes of gaining enough momentum to get reforms passed."

French Authorities Target Muslim Immigrants

It is gratifying to read that the most liberal and indeed laissez-faire of societies in Western Civilization is heading in the direction of denying citizenship to those wearing full Muslim veils. The carrot and stick approach that is proposed is a denial of citizenship if such attire (if you can call it that) is worn by a woman in France. This is a credit to President Nicolas Sarkozy.

" "I want the wearing of the full veil to be systematically considered as proof of insufficient integration into French society, creating an obstacle to gaining (French) nationality," he said.

He said he would advise prefects, the highest state representative in the various French regions, that the wearing of such veils is a motive for not delivering 10-year residence cards.

Besson said he was prepared to put the measures before parliament to make them law. In November, Besson ordered a nationwide debate on the French identity, to conclude by the end of January with possible measures.

Conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy is the force behind both the national identity campaign and the targeting of full-body veils, which he has said are not "welcome." Critics claim he is playing to traditional far-right fears of immigration, particularly by Muslims.

Investigation at Small Airport Yields Illegals

It is certainly heart warming to know these Illegals worked at an airport.*

"Twelve employees of Empire Warehouse Solutions at Stewart International Airport accused of faking their immigration records were charged with felonies Thursday.

Police credit an alert airport employee who questioned suspicious documents.

The employees used forged Social Security and resident alien cards to gain employment and access to the airport operations area, authorities said."

* By the way, there is a hero in this story, and it is the worker who noticed something was wrong, then reported it. This is a lesson for us all.

Reality Check: Rep. Gutierrez needs one

Excellent overall summary about the latest immigration 'reform' being introduced by Illegal Immigrant apologists and their narcissistic allies (example, certain large corporations), in particular Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois - guess which party he represents?

In this article from "The Reality Check", an interbiew is done with Rep. Billbray of California:

"As far as Rep. Billbray is concerned, with this bill Rep. Gutierrez is not representing the Constitution or the current voters of the U.S. but is only “vying for cheap votes and cheap labor.” He went on to say that this bill is “custom made for people breaking the law and to reward those employers who have created the problem.” He also strongly asserted that this bill will become a “magnet for more illegal immigration.”"

Left Wing Censorship

In my previous blog, I mentioned some Conservative hypocrisy in the hiring of Illegals (while they perhaps rant against them on the radio?), but here we have a story that illuminates the Leftist censorship that permeates our universities. It seems a leader from the Minutemen Project was invited to speak at the University of Nevada(Reno). Not surprisingly, some pro Illegal Immigrants are offended and either won't show up or will likely protest to the point of shouting him down, a typical tactic of the cowards on the Left. It amounts to censorship.

Our Convoluted Illegal Immigration Situation

The irony in this report from Wenatchee, Washington is that the owner of the mentioned janitorial company (that hired Illegals) was a conservative talk show radio host! Gulp - no surprise due to the fact that there is a strong libertarian streak with many business conservatives that dictates taking any road necessary in maximizing profit, even in hiring Illegal Immigrants. Shame on them.
But the larger issue the article addresses is the shift in Illegal Immigration enforcement strategy by President Obama.

"The probe of Seattle Building Maintenance offers an early glimpse into ICE’s approach to worksite enforcement — stealthily targeting employers rather than workers.

It’s a departure from the big splashy raids that used to play out on the evening news, with large numbers of immigrants being rounded up and carted off to detention, where many faced removal.

Now, workers are quietly let go by their employers, without the direct contact with immigration agents that might lead to deportation.

Immigrant advocates who initially lauded the shift in strategy as more humane are now seeing the impact it has on workers unable to find new jobs in a slow economy, while their employers appear to escape largely unscathed, much as they did under the old policy.

And those who support enforcement say the new policy is shortsighted, that along with not really punishing employers it does nothing to remove illegal immigrants, instead leaving them free to move to the next willing employer."
